AS A LITTLE CHILD

At one point during Jesus’ earthly ministry, parents brought their children to Him. The Bible describes what took place ...

Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them. Mark 10:13-16

The disciples likely rebuked those who brought little ones to Christ because it was seen as socially inappropriate. Jewish culture didn't necessarily see toddlers as 'special' or particularly endearing like we do today. To the surprise of His followers, Jesus lovingly interacted with the children.

MacArthur - No one better illustrates the reality that only the lowly who have achieved nothing of merit enter the kingdom than infants. They perfectly illustrate the principle that God saves sinners apart from their achievements. While the proud and self-righteous are excluded from the kingdom, those who approach the kingdom like infants are included.

At another juncture, Christ used the innocence of a child to reveal how men are to approach a relationship with God ...

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:1-4

Bringing your resume is fruitless. Christianity is not about 'knowing everything' or 'doing everything right'. It is instead an understanding that no matter what, we have a heavenly Father who wants to be relied upon in every situation.

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7

He loves His children.
