THE NEW COVENANT

The word 'covenant' is defined as a solemn, binding arrangement between two parties. In Scripture, it refers to God's divine promise toward fallen man ...

Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments. Deuteronomy 7:9

Initially, the Lord established a covenant with the children of Israel. It required strict obedience to the Mosaic Law. Failure to comply bore severe consequences - the blood sacrifices of innocent, unblemished animals had to be offered as payment ... for the wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23)

The good news is that Jesus Christ fulfilled the requirements of the Law and willingly became ... the Lamb of God who takes away the world's sin. (John 1:29)

His one-time sacrifice is sufficient to atone for the sins of all who surrender to His Lordship. You are no longer under the Law but under grace ...

Jesus is the Mediator of a New Covenant, so that those who are called may receive the eternal inheritance He has promised since He died to set them free from the violations committed under the first covenant. Hebrews 9:15

Salvation is now a free gift, received by grace through faith.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Make sure that organized religion doesn't corrupt your understanding of the sufficiency of Christ. Any demands made by the 'doctrines of men' harken back to old covenant theology.
