A STRONG TOWER

In our day, a newborn child is given a name that holds some personal significance .... but for the most part, it merely serves as an 'identifier'. But in ancient times, a person's name expressed his nature and attributes.

With this in mind, we see why the Bible emphasizes the significance of God's 'name'. It represents His intrinsic character and divine authority ...

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. Proverbs 18:10

His name is called a 'Strong Tower' because it is where His person, presence, and power are found. The 'righteous' (those who know Jesus Christ as Savior) 'run' to the Lord's perfection, faithfulness, authority, mercy, love, and protection.

From the end of the earth, I will cry to You. When my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been a shelter for me, a strong tower from the enemy. Psalm 61:2-3

The name of the Lord is a 'Strong Tower' because it secures our relationship with Him ...

I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

As we pursue God, He makes His character known to us through His Word, through the person of Jesus Christ, and through His Name ... Those who know Your name trust in You, for You, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek You. (Psalm 9:10)

What's in a name? ...
As Elohim, He is Creator
As Yahweh, He is the great I AM
As El Shaddai, He is the all-sufficient One
As Jehovah Jireh, He is our Provider
As Yeshua, He is our Savior

When you accept the gift of salvation by grace through faith, the Bible says 'your life is hidden with Christ in God'. (Colossians 3:3)

It is a 'Strong Tower' ...
