Solomon had much to say about it ...
1. He who has knowledge spares his words, And a man of understanding is of a calm spirit. Proverbs 17:27
2. A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1
3. A hot-tempered person stirs up strife, But the slow to anger calms a dispute. Proverbs 15:18
4. One who is slow to anger has great understanding, But one who is quick-tempered exalts foolishness. Proverbs 14:29
When a man walks in the Spirit, he will naturally steer clear of knee-jerk reactions, reckless speech, and emotional reprisals.

The power to diffuse anger and ill feelings comes from a Christian's gentle demeanor. 'Pulling your punches' displays spiritual maturity ... You know this, my beloved brothers and sisters. A 'calm spirit' comes from God ... The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23)
Even if you're attacked, slandered, and evil spoken of ... do not be quick to reply (or grow angry). A peaceful countenance will speak volumes about your relationship with Jesus Christ.
