DON'T GIVE UP

Are you weary of this life ... weary of a body subject to pain and disease ... weary that the world has become a valley of tears ... weary of false teachers who don't embrace the truth of God's Word ... weary of the enemies of the Cross whose ungodly conversation stings your conscience?

Solomon expressed it this way ... I have seen all the works done under the sun; behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit. (Ecclesiastes 1:14)

Don't give up, pilgrim ...

Christians who've traveled this road for any length of time look back with wonder at God's divine plan to draw us to Himself. He uses our earthbound 'self-reliance', our corrupted human reasoning, and our 'weariness' ... to bring us to the end of ourselves.

This world can never satisfy the longing in one's heart. Relying on its empty promises brings about the 'spiritual exhaustion' that King David spoke of ... I am weary with my crying; My throat is dry; My eyes fail while I wait for my God. (Psalm 69:3)

When stripped of everything that hinders our faith in the sufficiency of Christ, we come to understand that 'weariness' has a divine purpose. It is to spiritually break our kinship to this world so that we see things through God's eyes ... 'vertical' vision instead of a 'horizontal' human perspective.

You are not abandoned. Christ's profound invitation is broad in its scope and unfathomable in its depth ... Come unto Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)

This promise is for you ... lay your burden down.
