TWO KINDS OF SIN

The ways we fail to obey God's law:

Sins of omission are those in which we are obliged to do something good but refuse to act ... So for one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, for him it is sin. (James 4:17)

Sins of commission are those in which we participate (whether it be in thought, word, or deed) ... Against You have I sinned and done evil in Your sight, so that You are justified when You speak, and blameless when You judge. (Psalm 51:4)

The Apostle Paul understood these on a personal level. In Romans 7:19 he decries his tendency toward both types of sin ... For the good that I want, I do not do [omission], but I practice the very evil that I do not want [commission].

Though a Christian has an imparted new nature, it conflicts with his flesh until he is called home. Everyone is guilty ... There is none righteous, no, not one. (Romans 3:10)

You might be able to limit the number of sins you openly commit, but you cannot cleanse your soul. Your sin debt can only be expunged when you allow Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection to pay it in full

Our heavenly Father gave us a lifeline ... He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Jesus bore it all (every sin of omission and commission) on Calvary's cross. By grace through faith in His atoning sacrifice, eternal life can be yours. If you have yet to receive the gift of salvation ... do it now.

If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord ... and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Study the Bible, pray often, and walk by faith as we await our Redeemer's return.
