THE WILL OF GOD

When one fully surrenders his life to the Lord, 'God's will' becomes evident in three distinct ways ... Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2)

1. 'Good'
God's will is for our benefit ... He withholds no good thing from those who walk uprightly. (Psalm 84:11)

2. 'Acceptable'
God's will is not only approved, it is fully pleasing to Him ... for he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God. (Romans 14:18)

3. 'Perfect'
God's will is without defect and always reaches the goal for which it is intended ... thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:17)

There may be times when His will doesn't seem at all 'good, acceptable, or perfect'. You might question the Lord's intent when His directives don't make sense to your limited 'point of view' or 'frame of reference'.

Exercise faith in His sovereignty anyway ... Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Obedience to 'God's will' satisfies the soul ... His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue. (2 Peter 1:3)

Maclaren - The one who is committed to God sees life with a sure eye. While the careless and uncommitted are in confusion.

It all comes down to this ...
Only when 'your will' is put to death can 'God’s will' be revealed, understood and obeyed.
