The practical application of your faith in God is to obey the following command ...
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths Proverbs 3:5-6
In other words, it is not only an 'all-or-nothing' proposition ... it is to be 'exclusive'.
Clarke - It is on God, not on thyself, that thou art commanded to depend. He who trusts in his own heart is a fool ... self-sufficiency has been the ruin of mankind ever since the fall of Adam.
He is trustworthy ...Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments. (Deuteronomy 7:9)
This does not mean that the path He chooses will be easy. You may tend to veer off course thinking there is a more sensible, less arduous, road to take. It is then that the Holy Spirit sets off an alarm and triggers your conscience.
You have the option to heed the warning or keep going your own way ... drifting further and further away from God's perfect will for your life.
Know that it is far better to trust the Lord and put 'feet to your faith'.
