SHUT THE DOOR

Though we are forever saved by grace through faith, our old nature makes us vulnerable to sinful thoughts, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors. The Word of God gives us this warning ...

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Psalm 4:23

We are to set a sentry there to protect our 'inner man' (the saved soul). That which would hinder the Holy Spirit's ability to transform us into the likeness of Christ must be kept out.

Worldly influences that impede spiritual growth significantly impact our relationship with God, pushing us away from Him ...

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world - the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life - is not of the Father but is of the world. 1 John 2:15-16

Allowing those things to find a way into your heart creates conflict, making it difficult to pray, read the Bible, and experience peace. Since nothing is hidden from His eyes, the Lord can restore you. Humbly approach the throne of grace ...

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalm 51:10

Fill your mind with Scripture, pray without ceasing, and focus on the Lord’s commands, promises, and goodness.

'Shut the door' and place a guard on the threshold.
