SAYING NO TO THE GOSPEL

Without exception, everyone makes a decision concerning the person of Jesus Christ. When the Holy Spirit convicts a man of his lost condition and draws him to the foot of the cross, the cost of redemption is made plain. A lost soul either falls to his knees and accepts God's gift or turns his back and walks away.

There are several reasons why people reject the plan of salvation ...

1. Some don't think they need a 'Savior'.

They consider themselves to be fundamentally 'good' ... not realizing that even the slightest error in judgment has created a wall of partition between them and the Lord. Those who reject Christ will not be able to successfully plead their case based on their own merits. Jesus affirmed, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me'. (John 14:6)

2. The fear of being spurned by their peers keeps them from receiving Christ.

When the approval of men is more important than the approval of God, confessing Jesus as Lord is avoided. Christ made it clear ... Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, he will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 10:32-33)

3. For some, the 'present' is more appealing than the promise of eternal glory.

Temporal worldly success and material possessions give men a false sense of self-worth. The Word of God warns ... Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world - the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life - is not of the Father but is of the world. (1 John 2:15-16)

Any excuse you have for rejecting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior will have disastrous eternal consequences ... For there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

Don't say 'NO' to the Gospel.
