SPIRITUAL APATHY

It represents a progressive 'coldness or indifference' to the things of God. Spiritual apathy gains a foothold when the cares of this world and the pride of life distract you from your devotion to Christ.

The moment you realize that you've strayed away from the Shepherd of your soul, begin to address the 'whys' and 'hows' ...

First of all, make sure you are a true believer ... Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you - unless indeed you fail the test? (2 Corinthians 13:5)

If you know that you've been saved by grace through faith, ask: “What caused me to lose my love and passion for the Lord?”

Is it the presence of sin in my life? If so, repent and seek restoration ... Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and uphold me with thy free spirit. (Psalm 51:10-12)

Has 'dead orthodoxy' replaced 'fervent love'? Being 'religious' comes from the mind, not the heart. Don't just serve the Lord - know Him, praise Him, fellowship with Him. The Ephesians had drifted ... I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you have not become weary. Nevertheless, I have this against you ... You have left your first love. (Revelation 2:2-4)

A spiritually apathetic person needs to do three things: remember, repent, and renew ... Consider how far you have fallen. Repent and do the things you did at first. (Revelation 2:4)

If you've stopped reading God's Word and your prayers have become a formulaic ritual - it's no wonder that the joy of your salvation has waned. You must stay alert to the temptations of your old nature and never forget that Christ is 'with you' and 'in you' ...

We have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. (2 Corinthians 4:7)

When He is in control, 'spiritual apathy' is a completely foreign concept. You'll see.
