Christianity is a 'personal' relationship with God ... period.
1. Filtering your faith through a Catholic priest or a beloved Pastor is not enough ... Do not call anyone on earth your father; for only One is your Father, He who is in heaven. And do not be called leaders; for only One is your Leader, that is, Christ. (Matthew 23:9-10)2. Your philanthropic deeds, faithful tithing, and church attendance are not enough ... We all have become like one who is unclean, and all our deeds of righteousness are like filthy rags; we all wither and decay like a leaf, and our wickedness, like the wind, takes us away. (Isaiah 64:6)
3. Obeying the 'doctrines of men' is not enough ... These practices indeed have the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and mock humility and severe treatment of the body but are of no value. (Colossians 2:23)
4. Identifying with a church denomination is not enough ... For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. (2 Corinthians 5:10)
Seek to know God 'personally'.
Trusting in Jesus' death as payment for your sins, and His resurrection as your guarantee of eternal life ushers you into a 'familial' relationship with the Lord ... Because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying out, “Abba Father!”
Christians who see the Lord this way desire to include Him in their every thought, word, and deed. Never satisfied, His beloved children long to know God more intimately with every passing day. They regularly search the Scriptures and 'pray without ceasing' in order to draw closer to Him.
Examine your faith, whether it is through an outside source ... or one-on-One.
