THE SOUL OF MAN

The body dies ... but a man's soul is imperishable. 

To know that every human being who has ever lived still exists is a sobering thought. The question is, where? Scripture reveals two destinations ... 

And these [unbelieving people] shall go away into eternal punishment: but the righteous into eternal life. (Matthew 25:46)

There is nothing of greater worth than your soul. To trade it away for what this lost and dying world has to offer is tragically short-sighted ...

For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?  (Matthew 16:26) 

Eternal separation from God is 'your' decision, typically made through ... 'poisoning the soul' by bowing the knee to a false religion, 'starving the soul' by refusing to partake of God's grace, or 'murdering the soul' by loving sin and cleaving to a reprobate lifestyle. 

Those who reject the Gospel 'earn' eternal damnation ... For the wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23a)

But those who receive the Gospel 'possess' an inheritance ... The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23b)

Life can distract you to the point that your 'soul' becomes an afterthought. Deal with the temptation to focus on that which is temporal by walking in the Spirit. 

I pray ... 'it is well with your soul'.
