WHAT NOW ?

When someone receives the gift of salvation, he becomes a 'newborn' child of God. And as such, his first steps are tottering efforts to understand what it means to be 'Christian'. He can't help but wonder ... what now?

Mature followers of Christ are to teach and encourage new believers as they begin their spiritual journey ...

For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (Hebrews 5:13-14)

The 'what now' question deserves answers that help lay a firm foundation ...

1. Daily come before the Throne of Grace ... Be persistent and devoted to prayer, being alert and focused in your prayer life with an attitude of thanksgiving. (Colossians 4:2)

2. Dive deep into personal Bible study ... Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth. (
2 Timothy 2:15)

3. Don't hinder the Holy Spirit's work of sanctification ... Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2)

Once the ground becomes stable under his feet, the young one can be confident that with every stride comes spiritual growth. He receives marching orders ...

Giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1:5-8)

'What now' is a good question ... with good answers.
