DEAD TO SIN

According to Scripture, those who receive the gift of salvation are freed from sin's power to corrupt. Even though our flesh succumbs to temptation at times, the indwelling Holy Spirit is there to convict and draw us back to God. Paul reminded the early church that the 'battle within' is settled ...

Even so, consider yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. (Romans 6:11)

When we receive Jesus as Lord, the 'new birth' takes place and our old nature is stripped of its command. Called to 'fight the good fight of faith', we must continually deal a death blow to that which wars against life in Christ ...

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. (Romans 12:1)

Many fall prey to the idea that 'organized religion' is the answer. It invariably puts the responsibility of peace with God on the backs of men. Obeying manufactured rules of conduct to appease Him is contrary to Biblical teaching. It is death to 'self' that creates obedience for which we cannot claim credit ...

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)

You no longer need to be dominated by sin. It continues to exist, but your allegiance to Christ sets you free ...

God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. (Romans 6:17)

One day soon, the Lord will remove the curse of sin altogether. Until then, keep your eyes on Jesus ... you are complete in Him.
