DISCOURAGED?

Concerning your walk of faith, planting one foot after the other may be difficult at times. When you see steep mountains, dark valleys, and fierce battles ahead, pressing on has a tendency to get put on hold ... or 'shelved' altogether.

Paul saw the journey through a much different lens. His words continue to challenge us  ... Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:10)

We are instructed to remain steadfast ... Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. (2 Chronicles 20:15)

David was no stranger to 'discouragement'. He commanded his 'inner man' to trust the Lord ... Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! (Psalm 42:5)

Paul was definitely a 'glass half full' servant of Christ ... We are hard-pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. (2 Corinthians 4:8-10)

If a feeling of despondency toward the things of God has taken root, allow the Holy Spirit to readjust your priorities and expectations. He will rekindle in you a strong desire to finish the race.

Are you discouraged?
Humbly pray ... Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and sustain me with a willing spirit. (Psalm 51:12)

March on, pilgrim.
