John the Baptist was sent by God to prepare the way for the Messiah. His message was simple, yet direct ... Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand! (Matthew 3:2)
When those who embraced John the Baptist's teaching saw that Jesus was gaining popularity and drawing men to Himself, they were conflicted. John addressed the matter in no uncertain terms ... He must increase, but I must decrease. (John 3:30)
The mission of the church should be to encourage men and women to be followers of Jesus Christ on a personal level. Yet some preachers refuse to do that ... choosing instead to undermine that relationship by appointing themselves as 'the conduit' between the Lord and His people.
It only leads to an empty false faith.
When we 'get out of the way', the Gospel message has a tremendous impact on the souls of men. Don't block their view of Calvary.
