GET OUT OF THE WAY

John the Baptist was sent by God to prepare the way for the Messiah. His message was simple, yet direct ... Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand! (Matthew 3:2)

Down through the ages, faithful pastors, evangelists, and lay people have proclaimed that same profound edict. A lost and dying world has been introduced to Jesus Christ as Savior, and countless souls have been redeemed through faith in His finished work.

Sadly, in today's churches, the 'messenger' often overshadows the 'message'. We are witnessing preachers become wealthy 'celebrities' who bask in the limelight of their own religious kingdoms.

The Bible says ... God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. (James 4:6)

Untold numbers fall at the feet of some charismatic spiritual leader, filtering their religion through their misguided devotion to a man.

When those who embraced John the Baptist's teaching saw that Jesus was gaining popularity and drawing men to Himself, they were conflicted. John addressed the matter in no uncertain terms ... He must increase, but I must decrease. (John 3:30)

The mission of the church should be to encourage men and women to be followers of Jesus Christ on a personal level. Yet some preachers refuse to do that ... choosing instead to undermine that relationship by appointing themselves as 'the conduit' between the Lord and His people.

It only leads to an empty false faith.

When we 'get out of the way', the Gospel message has a tremendous impact on the souls of men. Don't block their view of Calvary.
