ASSURANCE

Forgiveness for sin comes to those who put their faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

This is not a 'tenuous' edict.

'Eternal security' is a wonderful promise, made by the One who cannot lie ... For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

True believers can never lose their salvation. The following verse is in the present tense. Eternity has already begun for those who've surrendered their lives to Christ's Lordship ... He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him. (John 3:36)

Confidence that your redemption is etched in stone comes from the Holy Spirit's indwelling. His work of sanctification delivers the 'assurance' we long for ... There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Romans 8:1)

It only comes when we realize that our salvation was not initiated (nor is it maintained) by us. Jesus Christ is ... The Author and Finisher of our faith. (Hebrews 12:2)

God's plan was conceived before the foundation of the world and, because of His providence, you get to experience it in 'real time' ... These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life. (1 John 5:13)

The importance of having assurance is that it frees us to serve the Lord ... For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)

All signs point to the soon return of Jesus Christ ... and our going home.

Your 'readiness' for that event is in His ability to hold onto you, not your ability to hold onto Him ... I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. (John 10:28)

Rest for your soul is found in that assurance.
