'Wisdom' is not just the ability to judge rightly, but the application of it. It is not simply information in your head, but information that you put to use.
Vance Havner - If you lack knowledge, go to school. If you lack wisdom, get on your knees! Knowledge is not wisdom. Wisdom is the proper use of knowledge.
Biblically, wisdom is taking the best course of action while under the sovereign authority of God (and for His glory) ... The [reverent] fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever. (Psalm 111:10)
Christians gain it as they grow in their faith, the evidence of which is seen not only in their comportment, but their attitude ... Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. (James 3:13)
The original Greek word for meekness is 'prautes'. When used with 'wisdom', it refers to ... 'strength under control' (not passivity or weakness).
Adrian Rogers - Wise people say and do the right things at the right time for the right reasons. They see life from God's point of view, applying heavenly counsel to earthly conduct.
Attributes ... But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. (James 3:17)
We are admonished to ... Get wisdom! Acquire understanding! Do not forget it, nor turn away from the words of My mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will keep you. (Proverbs 4:5-6)
How are you doing in this area?
Bible study alone won't do you much good unless it transforms your daily life. The walk of faith must be under the protection and guidance of God's divinely imparted wisdom ... i.e., 'strength under control'.
