MOCKING GOD

According to Scripture, you cannot claim to be a devout follower of Christ while secretly justifying sin in your life. The warning is clear ... Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. (Galatians 6:7)

The Gospel message introduces us to His amazing grace, but it does not eliminate the principle of 'choice' and 'consequence'.

To think we have a 'free pass' when it comes to immoral behavior makes light of Jesus' sacrifice ... Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? (Romans 6:1-2)

The war between 'the flesh' (our sinful nature) and 'the Spirit' (God's power and influence) causes us to stumble at times. How then is assurance of salvation possible ... when we continue to fall into sin?

Paul felt that inner anguish and revealed the answer ... Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! (Romans 7:24-25)

The phrase, 'God is not mocked', means that He will not be fooled into accepting anything other than total surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Vain religion will not suffice in the end ... I'll profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Matthew 7:22-23)

True believers are considered 'living sacrifices' ... I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)

Don't mock God by bringing some other offering.
