The Bible reveals who and what can lead believers astray:
- Corrupt religious leaders ... not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery, they deceive the minds of naive people. (Romans 16:18)
- Not trusting in the inerrancy of Scripture ... But Jesus answered him, saying, 'It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word of God'. (Luke 4:4)
- One's own distracted soul ... For this people’s heart has grown callous. Their ears are dull of hearing. Their eyes they have closed. (Acts 28:27)
- Satan ... Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8)
- The agnostic ideologies of seemingly 'good people' ... having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. (2 Timothy 3:5)
Those who don't know Christ as personal Lord and Savior must not have unlimited access to (and unchallenged influence on) your life ...
Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? (2 Corinthians 6:14)
Do not be misled: 'Bad company corrupts good character'. (1 Corinthians 15:33)
MacArthur - It is impossible to associate regularly with wicked people without being contaminated both by their ideas and by their habits.
You are in the world, not of it.
Lost people are not your enemy ... but they are also not your friend. Be a vessel used by God to draw them to the foot of the cross.
