PURSUED BY GOD

There is an amazing truth that many Christians fail to comprehend. The plan of salvation is not something we embraced willingly. 

Though the Bible commands lost humanity to look for God ... Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. (Isaiah 55:6-7)

Our sinful nature prevented it ... There is none righteous, no, not one; there is none who understands; there is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; they have together become unprofitable; there is none who does good, no, not one. (Romans 3:10-12)

Therefore, believers can't take pride in their decision to follow Christ ... No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him. (John 6:44) 

You did not pursue God ... God pursued you. 

He knew you before you were formed in the womb and made a way to bring you into fellowship with Him ... For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

His mission was to ... seek and to save that which is lost. (Luke 19:10)

Even after you surrender your life to His Lordship, the pursuit does not end. 

The indwelling Holy Spirit will daily hunt you down, pull you away from the noise of this world, and bring about your sanctification ... For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. (Romans 8:29)

You can’t outrun Him, pilgrim. It’s futile to try.
