THAT EMPTY SPACE

We were created with a God-shaped void.

Man does everything he can to fill that vacuum with earthly things, and it fails to satisfy. Without an anchor, he drifts from one vain exploit to another ... hopelessly floundering.

Despite all the power, prestige, and pleasures the world had to offer, Solomon experienced the 'emptiness' that vexed his soul ... So I hated life, for the work which had been done under the sun caused me only great sorrow, because all is futility and chasing after the wind. (Ecclesiastes 2:17)

Yet ... there is good news.

When we finally come to a place of honest reflection and cry out in despair ... O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? (Romans 7:24), God's ear is open.

Jesus was sent for those who are weary of trying to patch that hole. Their broken condition is perfect soil to plant the seed of faith ... They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (Mark 2:17)

Life is found in Him.
