'Blameless' ... a legal term meaning that no charge can be successfully brought against you. To be counted innocent, one must be seen as unblemished by sin. Only those who have been crucified with Christ will stand before God that day ... perfectly clean.
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20
There is a vital truth missing in today's religious teachings ... that if you purposefully (or unwittingly) combine self-reliance or human effort with your supposed trust in Jesus' finished work, your 'faith' is in vain.
'Blamelessness' is unattainable outside total submission to the Lord's Saving Grace. The obedience you are trying to secure in your own strength is only wrought by the Holy Spirit in you ... and only as you are hidden in Christ.
The hymn Rock of Ages expresses it beautifully ...
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee;
Let the water and the blood,
From Thy riven side which flowed,
Be of sin the double cure,
Save me from its guilt and power.
Not the labor of my hands
Can fulfill Thy law’s demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears forever flow,
All could never sin erase,
Thou must save, and save by grace.
Nothing in my hands I bring,
Simply to Thy cross I cling;
Naked, come to Thee for dress,
Helpless, look to Thee for grace:
Foul, I to the fountain fly,
Wash me, Savior, or I die.
While I draw this fleeting breath,
When mine eyes shall close in death,
When I soar to worlds unknown,
See Thee on Thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee.
When a born-again believer arrives on heaven's shore, he will not have his past sins put on display for everyone to see. The 'Judgment Seat of Christ' has to do with rewards ... not punishment. Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus ... their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. (Romans 8:1, Hebrews 10:17)
Christ will affirm before the throne of God that you are 'blameless'. He shall confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the Day of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 1:8)
Jude's beautiful doxology ...
To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy - to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power, and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore. Amen. Jude 24-25
Remember, pilgrim ... you exchanged 'grave clothes' for a 'cloak of righteousness' when by faith you received Christ as Savior. Don't allow the 'accuser of the brethren' to persuade you otherwise.
