THE WRATH OF GOD

The Lord is unflagging in His resistance to, and rejection of, every force that opposes His nature. God's indignation toward evil has the sole purpose of maintaining and defending His attributes of love and holiness.

It is expressed throughout Scripture as 'displeasure', 'anger', and 'wrath'.

God's wrath is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth.  Romans 1:18

God’s wrath is best seen as a 'righteous hatred' of all that is unholy. It reveals a vital truth concerning His temperament toward sin. Note that it is not 'uncontrollable rage' or 'vindictive bitterness', but instead ... unimpeachable judgment.

And it has eternal consequences.

The wrath of God is not appeased at one's physical death. You can bury an unsaved man's body, but you can not bury his iniquity. On judgment day all sin will be exposed and bear witness to a reprobate life that rejected Jesus Christ's atoning sacrifice.

This was not the Lord's intent for mankind ...

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.  John 3:16-17

If you receive the gift of salvation, the 'wrath' due you was instead placed upon the Son of God when He bore your sin on Calvary's cross.

This precious promise remains ... There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.  Romans 8:1
