One of your roles as a Christian is to encourage fellow believers who are weaker in the faith, steadfastly undergirding them with a heart of servitude.
We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves; let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to edify him. Romans 15:1-2
This does not mean you should ignore his behavior if he is sinning or embracing false doctrine. Your words must be corrective ... but said in the right spirit. They can still edify the hearer when they are bound by love.
Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. Galatians 6:1
Rid yourself of any spiritual arrogance and humble yourself before the One who called you to be a representative of His kingdom.
Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for edifying, as fits the occasion, that it may impart grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29
People who are hurting, crying out for hope, famishing for affirmation and encouragement, can go from your conversation unsated ... all because you spoke empty words consistant with your old nature.
You could have imparted grace but failed.
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. 2 Timothy 2:15-16
Speak those things which edify ...
