God is on the throne.
No power on earth can threaten His authority or rise above His sovereignty. The Creator of all things is in control; nothing takes place outside of His divine will. Therefore, a precious promise is made to those who love Him ... He is Jehovah Ezer, our 'HELP'.
Hence we can confidently say, “The Lord is my Helper, I will not be afraid; what can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:6
He surrounds us and protects us in our difficulties ...
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. Psalm 46:1-3
Note that the psalmist doesn’t state that God will remove believers from 'trouble', but rather safeguard us and glorify Himself in the midst of it.
I lift up my eyes to the mountains - where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2
The Word of God reveals some of the privileges of this divine 'help' ...
1. A daily supply of grace: I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; For You have been my defense And refuge in the day of my trouble. (Psalm 59:16)
2. Wisdom: We don’t know what we should do; we look to you for help. (2 Chronicles 20:12).
3. Power over temptation: I continually look to the Lord for help, for he will free my feet from the enemy’s net. (Psalm 25:15).
4. Direction: He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. (Psalm 23:3)
5. Comfort: The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. (Psalm 34:18)
6. Courage: He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord. (Psalm 31:24)
7. Perseverance: Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus. (Hebrews 12:1-2)
The purpose of your life is to exalt and glorify God. Those who commit their way to the Lord experience rest for their souls, even under duress. The difficulties of this life cannot rob you of His peace ... this is puzzling to a lost and dying world, for it demonstrates God's goodness toward His own.
No matter your circumstances, trust Him. Even when things are contrary, remember ... you are not home yet.
