It is New Year's Eve and as we reflect on 2023, we may be stunned by how much change took place in the world (and in our own lives).
Time is unrelenting in its forward march and we pass through its corridor but once. We experience infancy once, childhood once, youth once, adulthood once, and old age once. We are constantly leaving things behind, so the concept that 'everything' changes seems like a reasonable conclusion.
This truth is vital to our salvation. If the Lord can arbitrarily change, how can we have confidence that what He has said ... He will do? If we can’t rely on Christ's immutable character, how can we trust that our faith will be rewarded?
Jesus wasn’t just some preacher who rose in popularity and faded into oblivion.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him, nothing was made that was made. John 1:1-3
And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Philippians 2:5-7
Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Romans 8:34
No sin, no hardship, no self-doubt ... will ever cause Jesus to abandon you. His perfect love is constant and unwavering. When you receive Him as Lord, you can have full assurance that ...
He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion. Philippians 1:6
Rest in that.
