TRANSFORMED

In Scripture, the word 'transform' comes from the Greek 'metamorphose' ... used to describe the supernatural change in one's nature.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2

When your mind is renewed by the Spirit ... there is a growing realization of God's profound 'Holiness', an increasing sense of your own 'sinfulness', a constant awareness that you are not 'worthy' of His mercy, and an ever-deepening 'gratitude' for the Lord's amazing grace.

Concerning the phrase 'do not be conformed to this world', a subtle trap must be avoided. When you, in your own strength, resolve to abstain from worldly behaviors and influences (making the outside clean while the inside remains unchanged) ...  it is nothing but vain legalism.

You cannot 'transform' yourself ... it is the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit.

Spurgeon - The only way to escape being conformed to the world is to be transformed. The customs of society will lead us away unless the grace of God rules in us with divine power.

There is no middle ground. You are either a 'conformer' ... or being 'transformed'.
