WHAT A WASTE

We tend to look at those who have extraordinary musical talent, remarkable intellect, or positive social influence with high regard ... but unless their success is for the sole purpose of glorifying God, it will only represent the outward adornments of a 'wasted life'.

It’s important to understand how the Lord defines a 'life well lived' ...

He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Micah 6:8

God wants us to make the most of what time we have. Rather than waste our days on meaningless pursuits that leave no lasting imprint, He instructs us to ... be diligent about doing good (Titus 3:8). and to ... walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time (Ephesians 5:15-16).

Warren Wiersbe - How long will the rest of our lives be? We don't know; nobody knows. We may have many years, or we may have many days. We could be called home to glory before the day ends. It is an appointment, not an accident, and God knows when it is going to be. Therefore, redeem the time ... make the most of the rest of your life.

When death comes, your money and possessions will be given to someone else. Your job will be filled by others. Your talents will no longer define you. Your family may remember you with fondness but will move on with lives that don’t include you.

In the end, all that really matters is what you did or did not do for Christ.

An egocentric life of disobedience is a futile existence ... what a waste
