DIVINE GUIDANCE

God delights in giving divine guidance to His children. Those who earnestly desire the Lord's counsel, have this promise ... You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13)

Several factors need to be in place:

1. We must approach God through His Son ...
Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

2. We must know what God’s Word says ...
Much of His guidance comes from the Bible. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16)

3. We must be in tune with the Holy Spirit ...
He convicts our hearts concerning any waywardness. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. (John 16:13)

4. We must 'ask' for divine guidance ...
You have not, because you ask not. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. (James 1:5)

5. We must be willing to obey ...
God won't reveal His plan to those with a stubborn heart. They will call on Me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find Me. (Proverbs 1:28)

God does not exist to do our bidding; we exist for His pleasure and His glory. Prayers for 'divine guidance' must come from a position of total surrender ...

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
