IGNORANCE

The phrase 'ignorance is bliss' suggests that the lack of knowledge equals the absence of concern (if you don't know something, you don't worry about it).

But according to Scripture ... 'ignorance' is not 'innocence'.

Now if anyone sins and does any of the things which the Lord has forbidden, though he was not aware of it, still he is guilty and shall bear his punishment. Leviticus 5:17

When you commit sin, God brings consequences in order to train you. The process of sanctification can be painful as He deals a death blow to your old nature ... but it emanates from the Lord's perfect love.

For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. Romans 8:29

Though He would be just in doing so, God does not deliver immediate judgment upon man. He instead waits patiently for people to repent.

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9

But understand ... we are in the 'last days'.

The Gospel message has been spread throughout the world. God has presented Jesus Christ as Creator (in the past), Redeemer (in the present), and Judge (in the future).

Ignorance is no excuse and ... It is certainly not 'bliss'
