INDECISION

There are times when being indecisive is wise, especially if we lack the information necessary to draw a conclusion. However, in most cases, it is an unwillingness to commit to a principle because of the perceived consequences of doing so.

In Christianity, all 'indecisiveness' concerning the Word of God is crippling to the walk of faith. The Lord does not condone 'wishy-washiness' when it comes to His revealed truth.

Spiritual discernment is never withheld from those who earnestly seek it ... If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. (James 1:5-6)

Today's culture has substituted 'opinion for truth' and 'passion for conviction'. The lust of the flesh and the pride of life have distorted man's grip on reality to the point that everything is 'upside down' now. We must guard against this world's 'wink at sin' ... Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter. (Isaiah 5:20)

Much spiritual indecisiveness is motivated by the fear of man, not a lack of knowledge ... Am I now trying to win the favor and approval of men, or of God? Or am I seeking to please someone? If I were still trying to be popular with men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ. (Galatians 1:10)

Jesus warned us that ... No one can serve two masters. (Matthew 6:24)

We are to be settled on the things that matter to God and teachable on things that are more fluid. The Bible decides which is which ... Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)

His promise is real. Depend on it ... I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you. (Psalm 32:8)

Any 'indecisiveness' in the life of a Christian must be dealt with in order to ensure the Holy Spirit's work of sanctification goes unhindered.
