FIGHT ON

You may have thought life would get easier when you received Jesus Christ as Savior. 'Joy unspeakable', 'peace that passes understanding', and 'His abiding presence' were promised ... but an 'undisturbed' pleasurable walk of faith was not.

The redeemed soul continues to reside in an earthbound body, with a mind that is called to engage in spiritual warfare. We have marching orders ... Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life. (1 Timothy 6:12)

This is not to say our fighting somehow 'merits' heaven. It is the 'evidence' that we've already been saved ... not the 'cause' of our salvation.

It's obvious that the world, the flesh, and the devil did not go away when we committed our lives to Christ ... We wrestle against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12)

Christians are considered 'children of light' in a very 'dark world', equipped and empowered by God's indwelling Spirit. Regardless of the unrelenting attacks, victory is guaranteed ... We are hard-pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. (2 Corinthians 4:8-9)

May we have this testimony when our spiritual journey is over ... I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7)

We are indeed waging a 'good fight', with a good cause, and a good end. It is a lifelong battle against evil and there are no 'furloughs' along the way. We have an enemy who never takes a 'time out' ... so we fight on
